Remembrance assembly

This morning's Kyi assembly, presented entirely by pupils in S1-3 covered:
  • Fireworks night
  • Diwali and
  • Armistice day.

After various readings covering each of these areas, Siera, Lolly, Iona and Maisy read 'Flanders Fields', written in 1915 by the Canadian Physician John McCrae.

Pupils also read extracts from the 1915 school magazine. 'Cookery classes have been delayed as Miss Graham is absent giving cookery classes to the soldiers in Peebles'. 'Miss Dudgeon, teacher of PE, leaves tonight for London to take up work helping the wounded soldiers so lessons will be suspended' and 'Captain Maclaren, Lieutenant Muir and 2nd Lieutenant Heggie were all killed in action'.

Patrick brought the assembly to a close with a tune on his bugle.

Thanks to the Kyi Guidance staff (Ms Glass, Mrs McQuade and Mrs Kerr) for supporting the pupils in their preparations.
