Warmest congratulations to all our pupils who did so well at the National Mod in Dunoon last week. They were outstanding and did us proud! Nach math a rinn iad uile!
I chauffeured my mother today to the monthly Free Church Gaelic service in Edinburgh - as you do - and, to my consternation, was not only asked to precent the first Psalm, but - in the end - to lead all three. (The technicalities of Gaelic precenting I need not detail here, but it's the nearest one ever feels to being a set of pitilessly played bagipes.) Afterwards a cheerful youth introduced himself to me who turned out to be one Finlay Cunniffe, a Gillespies pupil and indeed one of your Royal National Mod starlets. (He was also most interested in my visit, as a very former pupil, to JGHS the other day.)If most of your students have the warm and easy confidence of that young man - in my day, a typical 15-year old bore himself in adult company as a waterless goldfish - then it is much to the credit of school and staff.
