The heart of a child's learning

'Children do better when families support their learning. There are lots of different ways you can get involved - from reading together, spending time talking and listening and finding out about their day through to helping them prepare for exams.

Your involvement makes a world of difference to your child. so do it today. Speak to your school and visit the Parentzone website for practical advice and ideas.' (Source - Education Scotlanf website)

All parents are invited to the first meeting of our Parent Events Group (formerly known as the PTA) on Wednesday 12 September at 7 Pm. Please come along and support us!

  1. One of the things parents miss when children move to High School is easy day-to-day communications with school and teachers. Many of the JGHS letters home appear to have been drafted as templates years ago. For example, a letter about missing homework should really include a departmental email address so that the parent or carer can respond quickly from work or home. Problems might then be resolved more quickly, reducing the burden on teachers and reassuring parents.
Also, the school doesn't seem to have a Twitter account. This would be a good way of informing parents about events or emergencies and costs very little.
